Sales of the Toyota Yaris (Vitz in Japan are called) have a header on the U.S. market last year by almost 40 percent compared to 2009, which was one of the worst years ever for sales. To say that Toyota's compact car, to show what love is an understatement, the U.S. debut of the new 2012 Toyota Yaris important.

"We need more visible," said Deputy Chief Engineer Yoshinari Toyomura. "That's one reason why the new Yaris has grown in size and taken on an edgy look than its predecessor."

Recently we had the opportunity to review the Japanese-spec version of the new car, and we immediately saw what Toyomura meant. The new B-segment is 3.5 inches longer with a wheelbase two inches bobo profits. Toyota hopes that the new car more aggressive edge to a wider audience appeal (ie men). The car feels bigger, but to minimize the company's efforts to cut costs while improving the packaging meets with mixed results.

The engine range will receive new versions of the 1.3-liter and 1.5-liter gas version and a revised 1.4-liter diesel for Europe can be expected (that's 1.5-liter version, which continues to base engine for the U.S., although a 1.8-liter and a hybrid model are also rumors). The highlight of the line-up is undoubtedly the car we tested 1.3-liter Smartstop package. Starting at just 0.35 seconds to seamlessly cutting the engine at idle, the smart-stop work to improve fuel efficiency by about 2 mpg, what mpg to 61.5 mpg in the Japanese cycle. But the start-stop is only offered on the 1.3-liter due to the steep $ 700 price tag. More strikingly, VSC and TRC traction control standard on the 1.3-liter version, not even offered as an option on other models, though believe that we will change it for the U.S. market version.

Tuned for optimum fuel economy and CO2 emissions of the 1.3-liter is sufficient, but not fast. Coupled with a review of the CVT, he drew enough of approximately 2000 revolutions per minute and was strong enough by the middle of the series - we think because our car does not have a tachometer. We expect that the five-speed manual transmission and tachometer remain in the U.S. available, although it is unclear whether the CVT is Stateside will come when we would not bet against, especially in the face of an aging four-speed automatic transmission on the current car . Deal with competitors is the Yaris chassis rigidity, a more compliant ride and better weighted and more steering feel to stiffen.

Although the new Yaris is bigger, better process than the old model, and looks much smarter, it's all too briefly on a few interior elements, and the performance is mediocre at best. There have toys that are missing from the crowd to get, if there is, supposedly later this year.
