Ford Motor Company (FMC) and Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) have agreed to cooperate to develop sophisticated new hybrid system for use in SUVs and light trucks. Signing of MOU on cooperation development of this product have been done some time ago and will be followed by a formal agreement next year.

Both companies are in fact separately has developed a hybrid system of rear-wheel drive is the latest generation. Now both have been committed to creating a new hybrid propulsion system that will provide fully experience the fuel savings are greater for SUVs and trucks without compromise. Ford and Toyota believes hybrid technology will provide faster and more affordable than the works of each.


"This agreement brings together global leaders in the ability of both vehicles and hybrid technology to develop better solutions more quickly and affordably," said Derrick Kuzak, Group Vice President Global Product Development at Ford. "Ford to achieve a breakthrough through the Ford Fusion Hybrid, and we intend to make another breakthrough for the new group of buyers SUVs and trucks that our customers know so well," he added.

Meanwhile, Takeshi Uchiyamada, Executive Vice President, Research & Development of Toyota, said Toyota launch its first hybrid in 1997 by launching the first-generation Prius. This car is a gasoline-electric hybrid car the first mass-produced. "Since then, we have sold about 3.3 million hybrid cars. We look forward to creating exciting technologies that are useful in conjunction with Ford, and we can do that through experience you have, "said Takeshi.



Under the MOU agreement, both companies will provide a hybrid powertrain technology and the best of their knowledge into a new hybrid system developed jointly. Prediction, hybrid engines in light trucks to be completed by the end of this decade. So it is not possible in the future there will be a hybrid Toyota Fortuner or Ford Explorer Hybrid.

While styling was more conventional than the VW, the sporting connotation implied by the Corvair style was appealing to buyers. Initially, 4-Door Sedans were the only of-

ferings, with 2-Doors coming on board at mid-year. However, a 4-Door was something that VW didn’t offer, and as a result nearly three-quarters of all Corvairs sold were 4-Door models. Honda Jazz Wagon (Shuttle Fit) 2011

After being delayed three months because of natural disasters in March 2011, Honda Motor Company officially launched the Shuttle Fit or Jazz Wagon in Japan. Reuters reports, this Toyota Prius Alpha competitors are already getting orders from customers 7000 Honda.
Honda Jazz wagon offers in the two options. The first version, Fit Shuttle 15x (FWD) is equipped with a 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine with a fuel consumption of 20 km per liter and priced at 1.61 million yen (USD 162.3 million). The second version, the Fit Hybrid Shuttle engined 1.3-liter i-VTEC plus IMA (Integrated Motor Assist) with a consumption of 30 km per liter gasoline and sold 1.81 million yen (USD 182.4 million) per unit.

The third largest car manufacturer in Japan has been successfully reached the target, which is 4,000 units per month. Varian's top-selling hybrid in the composition is 90 percent. This is understandable considering that consumers tend to choose efficient cars as oil prices are more expensive.

In its official statement, said that Honda Fit is still the format of the Shuttle 5-passengers, but with a more spacious luggage space and is also more convenient!

Toyota International Strategy

Internationalization strategy of Toyota changed during the first half of the 1980s from export-centered one to the localization strategy of production, excepting for early KD assembly in several countries and localized small production in Brazil, forced by local governments' protectionist policy. This change was imposed to Toyota, though it preferred the exports to the overseas production for the sake of its TPS, considered untransferable. The trade conflicts from the end of the 1970s, the voluntary restraint of exports toward the USA were the main reasons for Toyota’s decision to produce in the USA. The rapid appreciation of yen from 1985, but also the self-conviction of transferability of the TPS led Toyota to expand overseas production operations for substituting its exports with products of its transplants. This tendency was reinforced when Toyota established its “New Global Business Plan” in order to alleviate the trade conflicts with the USA in 1995. From then, “produce where demand exists” became Toyota’s globalization strategy. Remark that this globalization of production has been deployed on the basis of its international sales network created during the 1960s and 1970s. Then, Toyota does not carry out its overseas productions where the demand has to be searched yet. Also, it is out of question for Toyota to merge with any foreign carmaker, because its industrial model is too specific to do it. Moreover, Toyota has financial assets enough to conduct this strategy and invest in the R&D of ecological vehicles, as it was shown by the launch of the Prius. Toyota seems capable to compete on the world automobile market where the zero sum game is played.

However, this does not mean that its industrial model remains unchanged. Reinforcement of the ties of its group companies, move toward the foundation of its holding company, “delocalisation” of production, increasing parts procurement from abroad suggest a reorganization on going of its industrial organization in Japan. Is Toyota aiming to become a global company? On the other hand, Toyota changed its product policy. Now, Toyota gives its priority to product innovation in order to take the initiative in developing future vehicles like as the Prius or in giving a new concept to cars like as Vitz (Yaris), as if the development of such cars prior to the others constituted the best card to compete on the zero sum game market. In any way, Toyota's industrial model seems moving from “continuous reduction of costs at constant volume”

On the downside, the reliability isn't perfect. Parts and service are quite expensive and not all independent garages can perform the repair.

Audi has never offered a crossover SUV in the US market that's quite as small as the coming Audi Q3, which debuted at the recent Shanghai Auto Show and will take its place in the showrooms next to the larger Q5 and Q7 models.

The small Audi Q3 is based on the same platform as the Volkswagen Tiguan. The Q3 measures 173 inches long and 72 inches wide, while the larger Q5 is based on the Audi A4 sedan platform. The Audi Q3 will be in the small crossover SUV segment, competing against the new BMW X1, Land Rover Evoque, a coming Lexus, and a new Mercedes-Benz small crossover which may be called BLX.

Audi's little Q3 shares all of its design with other Audi products, from the grille to the new swooped beltline to the forward-leaning coupe roofline and very prominent high taillamps. The headlamps and taillamps are similar to other new Audis, and there are LED lamp elements on Q3s with the optional lighting package that make the little trucklet unmistakable on the road at night.

The Audi 2.0-liter turbocharged direct injection 4-valve engine, producing 211 horsepower, will be mated to ether a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Front-wheel drive will be standard, with Audi's quattro all-wheel drive as an option. An Audi Drive Select system offers four different driving modes from sport to economy.

An automatic engine stop-start system may be included in the Q3 package for fuel economy, and there will certainly be a clean diesel version using Audi's 2.0-liter TDI engine. A smaller, less powerful diesel with the potential of 45 mpg highway may come into the lineup later.

The Audi Q3 is about 10 inches shorter overall than the Q5, and rides less than seven inches off the ground, so it's not prepared for serious off-roading, but it is ready for snow, ice, or rain. The shared chassis uses strut front suspension a four-link rear suspension, electro-mechanical power steering and standard 16-inch wheels and tires.

The hood and tailgate are aluminum-skinned, and the body shell makes use of high-strength steel. The Q3 in base trim will start at about 3300 pounds. With all five seats erected, it will hold 16 cubic feet of luggage; with the rears folded, capacity rises to 48 cubes.

The interior will be a mix of brushed metal, wood, black and chrome, with an optional pop-up navigation and controller screen at the top of the center stack area. The second seat folds down flat in a 2/3-1/3 split scheme, with 16 cubic feet of space behind the second row and 48 cubic feet with the seats folded.

The option list includes LED ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, sport seats, adaptive headlamps, adaptive shocks, hard-drive navigation, wheels and tires up to 19-inch, and a wide variety of electronic safety systems, including park assist, side assist, active lane assist and camera-based speed-limit display. A Bose surround-sound system with 14 speakers, Bluetooth, USB and AUX ports will be available, and there may be a mobile WiFi option.

Sources say that there will be an upmarket S-Line version of the Q3 shortly after launch, and longer range, a super-sport version with a much more powerful engine.
